Need some updated family photos, but aren’t sure what to wear? Here’s what to wear for fall family photos:

Figure out a color scheme for photos. Instead of matching, focus more on coordinating colors for everyone’s outfits. These are a few fall color schemes:
Earthy Neutrals: Shades of tan, cream brown, beige, and olive green
Warm and Vibrant: Rust orange, burnt orange, mustard yellow, and a dark burgundy
Classic Neutrals: Navy blue, dark forest green, khaki brown, and cream

Start with the ONE outfit you know you want to use for family photos. Choose a color scheme around that one piece of clothing. You can use a color scheme from the examples above, or figure out one yourself.
I’d encourage it to be Mom’s outfit that you pick out first because you’re likely the pickiest about what you’ll be wearing (not to be harsh…but it’s probably true). From there, coordinate the kids/toddler’s outfits. Then choose the baby’s outfit. Figure out Dad’s outfit last (and most likely just choose something that he already owns from his closet).
For the Woman/Mom: I typically suggest a cozy cardigan with a maxi dress or maxi skirt; a corduroy mini dress; or corduroy pants with a cozy sweater paired with ankle boots.
For the Man/Dad: Wear dark denim pants with a neutral sweater or button-down shirt with casual shoes.
For the Girls/Toddlers: Wear a cute dress and tights with a cardigan or a jean jacket, or go more casual with a cozy sweater and pants.
For the Boys/Toddlers: Wear a neutral sweater or a flannel shirt with corduroy pants, or overalls with a long-sleeve shirt underneath.
For the Baby: Can never go wrong with overalls, no matter their gender. Or a frilly romper for a baby girl and a sweater and pants for a baby boy.
