These Carlsbad family photos were a perfect way to celebrate this family’s time spent by the beach before moving away. This sweet family had added a new family member (cutie baby boy!) while living here, so new updated family photos at the beach before moving away was needed!

Sierra and Jim had met in college. I actually met Sierra through a friend out here in North County San Diego, but we discovered all 3 of us had gone to the same university in North Carolina. Later at the end of our photoshoot, I discovered that Jim and my own husband had briefly worked together as well! Lots of small world moments!!

The Location for Carlsbad Family Photos

This particular location in Carlsbad has a lot of free parking available between a parking lot and street parking. I love the iconic “California beach” views with the huge beachside cliffs. It’s a small walk to get to this exact spot by the cliffs, but so worth it!

One thing to consider for this location is to make sure to pay attention to the tide beforehand. If it’s high tide, then this beach could potentially be under water. Low tide is the best time to go to this Carlsbad beach for family photos.
