Flowers add such a beautiful touch to your wedding! There are multiple ways to include flowers within your wedding. Wedding flowers help to create the vibe of your day, along with adding a beautiful touch to your wedding photos. It is so important to find a florist who can help create the wedding flowers of your dreams to reality!! Here are a few ideas on how to incorporate flowers throughout your wedding day.

Florals are a huge way to include personal touches into your day – whether you’re planning a wedding or an elopement. You can get flowers of your favorite color, replicate flowers from your first holiday together, use flowers that remind you of loved ones or of your favorite memories, or simply have flowers that you have always loved.

Wedding Bouquet and Wedding Boutonnière

This is the most obvious answer: a wedding bouquet and a wedding boutonniere! If you’re having a wedding party, you could also include getting mini bouquets and mini boutonnières for your people. This groom and his groomsmen below had flowers on their ties!

Flowers at the Wedding Ceremony

Make a statement at the wedding ceremony by including flower installs around where you will be standing with the officiant. You could also line the aisle with flowers.

Wedding Reception Flowers

Include flowers at the reception: Create centerpieces for the tables. Have greenery on the tables. Have an arch with flowers on it.

Choose a Location with Flowers

Whether you’re getting married at a wedding venue or are eloping at an outdoor area, choose a location with flowers naturally blooming around the grounds. This could be gardens, wildflowers, trees or bushes that bloom. This option does not no guarantee the flowers will be in bloom or at their peak on your wedding day if you’re planning in advance – BUT if it works out, then your wedding photos will be stunning with the trees/bushes/gardens in bloom!!!

Consider Using Faux Wedding Flowers

There is always the option to mix real flowers with faux flowers too – or use all faux florals. There are reputable companies that have faux flowers that look SO real. Cheap artificial flowers typically look, well, cheap (in real life and in your photos), so don’t skimp even on faux flowers. Invest in high quality artificial flowers! Here are a few reasons to consider using faux flowers:

• Some locations (such as national parks) do not allow outside florals to be brought into the area for fear of messing up the local ecosystem
• You’re wanting to save your flowers to use to decorate your home (forever!)
• You are worried about allergies

When looking for high quality artificial flowers, look for silk flowers. They typically look the most real! The flower arch pictured in this blog was a mix of mostly silk flowers and some real flowers. Below is a close-up of the flower arch to see how real the silk flowers look!

What to Do with Your Flowers After Your Wedding

If you’re hoping to preserve your florals after the wedding, here are a few ideas:

• Dry out the bouquet. Hang your bouquet(s) inside and upside down to dry the flowers out. Once they’re dried, you can keep the bouquet whole or you can separate the flowers individually.
• Press your flowers! Get artistic with it and frame them to create an art piece for your home.
• Send your flowers off to a preservation company. You can ship your bouquet and most companies have lots of unique products to choose from. Designs by Andrea is excellent!

If you’re not interested in preserving your wedding flowers, here are a few other ideas with what to do with your wedding flowers:

• Donate your flower bouquets. A lot of hospitals and elderly homes will gladly take wedding bouquets to spruce up the spaces.
• Give out the bouquets to your loved ones. You can either deliver the bouquets to your loved ones as a “thank you” for helping out or tell them to grab a bouquet as they leave your wedding.
• Bring your wedding flowers to the burial site of your loved one(s) and put some wedding flowers by their grave. Even though they couldn’t physically be there on your wedding day, you’re still able to bring a tangible piece of your wedding day to them (and I’m sure they were with you on your wedding day :)).
• For the faux flowers: Make home decor using them! Make a wreath, create a centerpiece, and other DIY projects (youtube has a lot of great ideas).
