Here are 5 tips for planning a proposal in San Diego. Are you ready to ask your partner to spend the rest of their lives together, but aren’t too sure how to go about planning that?
Definitely talk with your partner about this since a ring is not actually necessary. A few reasons your partner wouldn’t want/need a ring is because they have mentioned not wanting one or wanting a family heirloom ring. But it’s a good idea to communicate with your partner on if they’re expecting a ring at the actual time when it comes to proposing!
If your partner is expecting a ring, make sure you know their ring size (whether you secretly find out or flat out ask them) and ask them for an idea of what style of ring they’re wanting (Pinterest is a great idea to get some engagement ring inspiration!).
Overall, make sure to communicate with your partner on if they’re expecting an engagement ring, and what style ring they’re wanting if so!
A few things to consider when planning a proposal in San Diego:
Where: the location of where you’re wanting to pop the question is important. Are you wanting to propose at a sentimental place within your relationship? Or on vacation together? At home?
A few stunning proposal locations in San Diego include, but are not limited to (pro tip: your photographer can also help you with location ideas): Solana Beach, La Jolla Gliderport, Sunset Cliffs, Coronado, Mission Bay Park, Mission Trails Regional Park for mountain views, and more!
When: the date and time of day is important to consider. Are you wanting to propose at sunset? In the morning? Are you wanting to propose on a crisp fall day or on a sunny summer day?
How: Has your partner expressed how they’d like to be proposed to? In public or private? Have they dropped any subtle (or not so subtle) hints on how they’d like to be proposed? Or do you have full creative freedom on planning a proposal?
Have a few key points of what you want to say while you’re proposing – and practice what you want to say beforehand. Nerves will surely hit you in the moment, so having an idea of what you want to say is a good idea so you’re not fumbling your way through your proposal.
At the end of your speech (it can be however long or short you want it to be!), decide on what to say when actually asking your partner to marry you. Here are some ideas:
Easier said than done, but breath, relax, and try not to get too overwhelmed! Remember that the whole point of proposing is to start a new chapter of life with your current partner – even if all of your planning goes awry, etc. A few additional tips:
The majority of wedding photographers offer proposal photography as a service as well. Hiring a wedding photographer is also a great way to make connections once you’re ready to start planning your wedding or elopement. Just make sure to communicate with them that they’ll be photographing a proposal when you first reach out to them!
