This Sunset Cliffs photoshoot was so beautiful despite the cloudy skies!! Emerson and Hudson were so excited and enthusiastic to be there despite never having been in front of a professional camera together before. Even though the skies were gray, I went home after their photoshoot super excited about these photos!!!

THE LOCATION: SUNSET CLIFFS

Sunset Cliffs is located in San Diego, California. It’s along the cliffs with ocean views, most known for beautiful views during the sunset (as the name suggests!). There’s a few spots along the cliffs where you’re also able to climb down to get on to a beach. Low tide is the best time to get on the beach by Sunset Cliffs.

The best time for photos is during sunrise in the morning or during sunset in the evening. Sunrise typically allows more privacy (less people) and more space for parking. Sunset is obviously THE time to be at Sunset Cliffs, and how you could get the really beautiful sunset skies in the background of your photos. Parking does become a bit tricky and more people are typically at Sunset Cliffs in the evening. However, there is plenty of space at Sunset Cliffs to find a private spot and take pictures no matter the time of day.

Street parking is available at Sunset Cliffs. There’s plenty of parking spots, but arrive early to give yourself time to find parking and walk to the location of where you’re planning on meeting up with your photographer so you’re on time.

BEST TIME OF YEAR FOR PICTURES IN SAN DIEGO

The best time for photos at Sunset Cliffs, or anywhere within Southern California, is July throughout April. Unfortunately, May and June are known as “May gray” and “June gloom” for being so cloudy throughout those two months of the year. These photos were taken at the beginning of June, which explained the cloudy skies. Although the other 10 months don’t always guarantee clear skies either, there’s a greater chance for clear skies and pretty sunsets or sunrises for photos from July to April!

Despite the cloudy skies, flowers are in bloom during the spring time which makes up for the cloudy skies for sure!!
