Beach Engagement Photos

These beach engagement photos was so beautiful with the pink sunrise we got lucky with!!! Leah and Justin were troopers waking up early, but I’d say that it was WELL worth it! This sunrise engagement was stunning!

Let’s back up a moment first though. Leah and Justin first met in high school in Raleigh, North Carolina, and were friends throughout it. They lost touch for a couple of years before reconnecting after they graduated college. They began dating, moved to the beach in Wilmington, and now they’re engaged! Justin proposed while they were out fishing on a summer day. We ended up taking their engagement photos at Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington, which is where they spend a lot of time together when they’re not on the boat.

The Experience

The best time of day for beach engagement photos during either sunrise or sunset. If you’re wanting to see the sun and the most colorful parts of the sky in your photos, then sunrise is best if you’re on the east coast by the Atlantic Ocean. Sunset is the best time if you’re on the west coast by the Pacific Ocean. But you really can not go wrong with either option no matter what coast you’re on!

For these photos, we met up at sunrise on the east coast. Since it was sunrise, we had the beach practically to ourselves besides the occasional people walking on the beach or surfers out on the water.

For outfits, Leah and Justin both looked stunning representing white for their engagement. Leah wore a white lacy dress while Justin wore shorts and a white striped button up shirt. Here is an Engagement Outfit Inspiration mood board from Pinterest for additional outfit ideas.

We ended up hanging out on the beach for about an hour taking photos and laughing and having fun! Leah and Justin are just so sweet and were so excited telling me about their wedding plans. I had them sitting, jogging, walking, dancing, and getting in the water all while also making out😜 The sky really showed out with the bright pink colors and the water reflecting the colors!!!
